Fibromyalgia causes devastation in the lives of those that are afflicted with it and also to those around them. Are you sick and tired of being sick and tired because of? Does fibromyalgia control your life? Does fibromyalgia stop you from doing those things you wish you could? Is fibromyalgia what you have become, instead of that vibrant human being that you used to be?

Don’t lose hope. These patients in the following testimonials were just like you, stricken with fibromyalgia and hopeless. They had seen many so called fibromyalgia “specialist” only to be given drugs to cope with the symptoms. None of these fibromyalgia doctors tried to get to the root of their problems.

Then, one day, they hear of Dr. Walter K. Crooks and his fibromyalgia success stories. Now, they too, are success stories and free to live the life God intended for them. I hope you will be our next success story and your testimonial will be seen by those searching for answers.

If you’ve been desperately searching for answers about fibromyalgia

– real, honest answers –

as to why you’re suffering and how you can get better. If you are sick and tired of listening to so called “experts” who will take your money and leave you no better and with less hope. If you want to finally get your life back…then reading this entire report right now will prove to be the biggest, most important decision you’ve made in a long time.

If you suffer with constant or intermittent fibromyalgia/chronic fatigue symptoms, if you are exhausted and in pain all day, if you worry about playing with your children or doing the things you love to do because you always feel “lousy,” you need to read this report…all of it. I honestly don’t know where else you can get this vital information.

Do not put this off or you will miss out.. You will kick yourself later as you realize reading and following this simple report was the answer you’ve been looking for since fibromyalgia stole your life.

After reading the upcoming pages, you will feel that giant weight being lifted off your chest as you get the possible answer to your greatest hopes and dreams…as you get the possible answer to that huge, debilitating monster that cripples your enthusiasm ruins your relationships and crushes your very will to live…

You know that monster i’m talking about – the “fibromyalgia monster” that robs you of your youth. It sucks the fun right out of your life and makes you old before your time. I’m here to tell you that it does not have to be this way… It does not have to be a struggle anymore.

What would your life be like if you were able to live again?

Imagine how great you would feel without your constant joint pain, stiffness and chronic fatigue…

Imagine how easy your life would be if you could just do all the things you want and love to do without the pain and fatigue of fibromyalgia…..

Imagine how easy your life would be if you could just do all the things you want and love to do without feeling exhausted and miserable.

Imagine not having to take handfuls of all those expensive pain medications that don’t work and can have deadly side effects…

Imagine waking up tomorrow morning, bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, feeling completely refreshed with a surge of energy, ready to take on the new day –

Just like everyone else…

Well, stop imagining.. – it’s here!!!

Why would i offer this free report and reveal all this to you… A complete stranger?

I know just how crippling fibromyalgia can be. I know how fibromyalgia can destroy your family, your career, and your life. I know how fibromyalgia can put a strangle hold on your life… Squeezing your hopes and dreams right out of you like a giant anaconda.

How do i know how you feel? I help fibromyalgia patients every day.

You see, a large part of my practice is devoted to fibromyalgia cases. Devoted to cases other doctors have had no success with. Devoted to cases other doctors have given up on. Devoted to cases other doctors have simply turned their backs on and thrown out in the trash. Devoted to cases just like yours.

I spend countless hours every week treating fibromyalgia sufferers just like you and scouring the earth to find the very best and the very latest advances in treating this dreaded chronic syndrome.

And what i’ve discovered is like the “fountain of youth” for fibromyalgia sufferers!

You read that right. What i’ve just done is the equivalent of stumbling across the fountain of youth… Or breaking into fort knox and making off with all the gold. And i’m going to share it with you… all of it.

Here’s what this is all about: 11 years ago, i was your average doctor and knew very little about fibromyalgia. I had seen quite a few patients with fibromyalgia over the years and honestly, had a “love/hate” relationship with these cases. I could help some fibromyalgia sufferers quite a bit, while many got minimal results. Most doctors i know have just given up on fibromyalgia completely. They have resorted to telling patients “it’s all in your head.” Well, i kept getting more and more fibromyalgia sufferers asking me if there was anything i could do to help them. I soon found out that there are…

15 million fibromyalgia sufferers in the United States!

Wow! I began searching everywhere for a solution. There had to be something that could help fibromyalgia patients and was being overlooked. Something that could help the 15 million people just like you. There are even Children being diagnosed with Fibromyalgia!

Well, after a few years of searching, all i came up with were worthless drugs, diets, supplements, herbs, anti-depressants, psychiatrists, magnets…

I even found someone selling some kind of “mineral enriched sea water.” And by now, we all know about that “blue glop.” Some of these treatments may help other conditions but…

They were worthless for fibromyalgia! I have authored a DVD entitled “Breakthrough Treatments for Fibromyalgia” I have researched and continue to do so in my quest to have a maximum positive impact on every person I meet.

An Integrative Interface between Two Super-systems: The Brain and the Immune System

The brain and the immune system are the two major adaptive systems of the body.

In Fibromyalgia they are disrupted.

During an immune response the brain and the immune system “talk to each other” and this process is essential for maintaining homeostasis. Two major pathway systems are involved in this cross-talk: the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis and the sympathetic nervous system (SNS). This overview focuses on the role of SNS in neuroimmune interactions, an area that has received much less attention than the role of HPA axis. Evidence accumulated over the last 20 years suggests that norepinephrine (NE) fulfills the criteria for neurotransmitter/neuromodulator in lymphoid organs. Thus, primary and secondary lymphoid organs receive extensive sympathetic/noradrenergic innervation.

Under stimulation, NE is released from the sympathetic nerve terminals in these organs, and the target immune system cells express adrenoreceptors.

Through stimulation of these receptors, locally released NE, or circulating catecholamines such as epinephrine, affect lymphocyte traffic, circulation, and proliferation, and modulate cytokine production and the functional activity of different lymphoid cells. Although there exists substantial sympathetic innervation in the bone marrow, and particularly in the thymus and mucosal tissues, our knowledge about the effect of the sympathetic neural input on hematopoiesis, thymocyte development, and mucosal immunity is extremely modest. In addition, recent evidence is discussed that NE and epinephrine, through stimulation of the 2-adrenoreceptor-cAMP-protein kinase A pathway, inhibit the production of type 1/proinflammatory cytokines, such as interleukin (IL-12), tumor necrosis factor-, and interferon- by antigen-presenting cells and T helper (Th) 1 cells, whereas they stimulate the production of type 2/anti-inflammatory cytokines such as IL-10 and transforming growth factor-. Through this mechanism, systemically, endogenous catecholamines may cause a selective suppression of Th1 responses and cellular immunity, and a Th2 shift toward dominance of humoral immunity. On the other hand, in certain local responses, and under certain conditions, catecholamines may actually boost regional immune system responses, through induction of IL-1, tumor necrosis factor-, and primarily IL-8 production. Thus, the activation of SNS during an immune response might be aimed to localize the inflammatory response, through induction of neutrophil accumulation and stimulation of more specific humoral immune responses, although systemically it may suppress Th1 responses, and, thus protect the organism from the detrimental effects of proinflammatory cytokines and other products of activated macrophages. The above-mentioned immunomodulatory effects of catecholamines and the role of SNS are also discussed in the context of their clinical implication in certain infections, major injury and sepsis, autoimmunity, chronic pain and fatigue syndromes, and tumor growth. Finally, the pharmacological manipulation of the sympathetic-immune system interface is reviewed with focus on new therapeutic strategies using selective 2- and 2-adrenoreceptor agonists and antagonists and inhibitors of phosphodiesterase type IV in the treatment of experimental models of autoimmune diseases, fibromyalgia, and chronic fatigue syndrome.

Study covering the immune system and it’s role with regards to the nervous system.

Dr. Crooks extrapolates this to his fibromyalgia patients.

Fibromyalgia has consequences from and to the brain. These consequences either begin in the immune system or central nervous system. Many times the immune system is disrupted for quite some time before the symptoms of fibromyalgia ever become perceived. In treating fibromyalgia patients, Dr. Walter K. Crooks, a Chiropractic Clinical Neurologist, utilizes studies such as these to help him have a better understanding of what exactly is going on in fibromyalgia.

Researchers have detected abnormalities in the brains of people with fibromyalgia, a complex, chronic condition characterized by muscle pain and fatigue.

By Kathleen Doheny HealthDay Reporter Monday, November 3, 2008; 12:00 AM
MONDAY, Nov. 3 (HealthDay News) –

“We showed in our study that the functional abnormalities observed were mainly related to disability,” and not to anxiety and depression status, said Dr. Eric Guedj, the study’s lead author and a researcher at Centre Hospitalier-Universitaire de la Timone in France.
While some researchers have suggested that the pain reported by fibromyalgia patients was the result of depression, the new study suggests otherwise. The abnormalities found on brain scans done by the study authors were independent of the women’s anxiety and depression levels, Guedj said.
The French researchers evaluated 20 women diagnosed with fibromyalgia and 10 healthy women without the condition who served as a control group. They asked all the women to respond to questionnaires to determine levels of pain, disability, anxiety and depression.
Then, the researchers performed brain imaging called single photon emission computed tomography, or SPECT.
The imaging showed that women with the fibromyalgia syndrome had “brain perfusion” — or blood flow abnormalities — compared to the healthy women.

The researchers then found that these abnormalities were directly correlated with the severity of fibromyalgia symptoms.

An increase in blood flow was found in the brain region known to discriminate pain intensity, the researchers found.
The findings were published in the November issue of The Journal of Nuclear Medicine.

An estimated 10 million Americans are thought to have fibromyalgia, the majority of them women, according to the National Fibromyalgia Association.

They report a history of widespread pain in all four quadrants of the body for at least three months, and pain in at least 11 of 18 “tender points.”
Besides pain, fibromyalgia symptoms include fatigue; problems with cognitive functioning, memory and concentration; difficulty sleeping; and stiffness.
The cause of fibromyalgia remains a mystery, according to the association, but it may occur following physical trauma such as an injury, experts say. Treatments focus on relieving symptoms and helping patients function.
In previous research, Guedj and his team had found functional abnormalities in areas of the brain of fibromyalgia patients. The latest study goes a step further, demonstrating that the brain abnormalities are correlated with disease severity, he said.
Dr. Patrick Wood, senior medical adviser for the National Fibromyalgia Association, said the new study provides “further evidence of an objective difference between patients with fibromyalgia and those who don’t have the disorder.” Wood reviewed the study results but was not involved with the research.
Other studies have found a correlation between brain abnormalities and fibromyalgia symptoms, Wood said, adding that the new study adds more evidence and information on how the abnormalities affect patients.

Most guidelines suggest that Fibromyalgia affects people over 40 and affects 9 times as many women as men. It might be time to revise that traditional thinking according to a Daily Mail article.

A recent study found 6% of school age children in Mexico, Finland, and Israel reported muscular pain. Often when school age children complain of muscular pain they are told that it is growing pains, but it could well be Fibromyalgia.

Physicians sometimes dismiss a child’s complaint of pain because they feel the child is exaggerating their condition to gain attention or special favor, or possibly believe that it is psychosomatic, or that they are making the whole condition up. The tendency is to discount a child’s complaint of muscular pain because they are expected to be active, full of life, and far too young to suffer from Fibromyalgia.

Often a child with Fibromyalgia has symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and is sent to a gastroenterologists. The specialist the child needs to see is a rheumatologists. As most adults will testify it is difficult to find a physician who can identify Fibromyalgia symptoms. One can only imagine what a child experiences trying to find the reason for their painful condition when their is not a blood test that provides an absolute diagnosis.

To compound the problems of many children who have undiagnosed Fibromyalgia they are treated with painkillers, which is not helpful in treating the long-term condition.

Fibromyalgia patients frequently find their way to the doctor’s office because of unexplained pain in their neck, shoulder, and/or back. The cause for the chronic pain has baffled the medical profession for decades; often resulting in a diagnosis that the brain in in the patients head.

Richard E. Harris, PhD, research assistant professor, Division of Rheumatology of Internal Medicine, University of Michigan Medical School believes he has found-

The link between fibromyalgia pain and the neurotransmitter molecule glutamate.

The glutamate molecule helps convey information between neurons in the nervous system. When glutamate is released from one neuron it binds to the receptors on the next neuron, which causes the the newly attached neuron to become excited (or more active.) Glutamate was targeted for Harris’ study because previous studies using functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI), had established that the insula region of the brain in fibromyalgia patients was highly active.

For 4 weeks participants were given either real acupuncture treatments or sham acupuncture treatments to reduce pain. The sham treatment involved using a sharp device to prick the skin in order to mimic a real acupuncture sensation.

After 4 weeks of treatment both the participants receiving the real acupuncture and sham acupuncture self-reported reductions in pain. What is significant is that the patients who reported the greatest reduction in pain also had the greatest reduction of glutamate in the insula region of the brain.

Harris’ believes that glutamate may play a role in fibromyalgia pain and could possibly be used as a biomarker of the disease’s severity.

Because the study involved a small number of participants, Harris feels additional studies need to be done to verify the role of glutamate in fibromyalgia pain.

Father of fibromyalgia research offers new perspective.

June 26th, 2007 by Richard Brassaw
It was 25 years ago when Muhammad B. Yunus, MD, published the first controlled study of fibromyalgia syndrome. It was this study that led the medical community to recognize Fibromyalgia as a disease. John B. Winfield, MD, calls Dr. Yunus,

“…the father of our modern view of fibromyalgia.”

Once again, Dr. Yunus has published, Fibromyalgia and Overlapping Disorders: The Unifying Concept of Central Sensitivity Syndromes, which promises to be another fibromyalgia landmark study. In this study, Dr. Yunus made an exhaustive study of 255 publications dealing with Fibromyalgia and related diseases. From this massive amount scientific literature, and with his own insights, developed a concept that he calls the Central Sensitivity Syndrome (CSS).<img class="alignright size-medium wp-image-363" title="fibromyalgia-cycle" src="http://fixmyfibro.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/fibromyalgia-cycle-300x246.gif" alt="Fibromyalgia"width="300" height="246" />

Dr. Yunus describes 13 conditions related to CSS/fibromyalgia. Although in some patients stress and depression may contribute to the symptoms of pain and suffering the real cause is neurochemical pathology. He concludes that CSS is a new and important perspective that embraces the biopsychosocial model of disease for Fibromyalgia.
The biopsychosocial model comprises of diverse contributions ranging from genes and adverse childhood experiences, life stress and distress, post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), mood disorders, self-efficacy for pain control, catastrophizing, coping style, and social support.

It is expected that neuroscience research will now incorporate a biopsychosocial perspective, when diagnosing Fibromyalgia.
